CNC Granite Logo Inlay at Hotel Gotham Newcastle
The 5-Star Hotel Gotham Newcastle is a luxury boutique hotel located in the heart of Newcastle, known for its bold Art Deco–inspired design and distinctive character. Housed within a landmark city-centre building, the hotel combines dramatic interiors with high-quality materials and carefully considered detailing, creating a memorable experience from arrival through to departure. Its strong visual identity and emphasis on craftsmanship make it an ideal setting for bespoke architectural features and permanent stonework.
As part of the entrance detailing at Hotel Gotham Newcastle, a bespoke stone feature was commissioned to express the hotel’s bold visual identity through permanent architectural materials. The project required a high level of precision, material quality and craftsmanship to meet the demands of a luxury commercial environment.
Project Team and Specification
Stonepave were commissioned to supply the stone package for the project and subsequently engaged us to produce and machine the bespoke granite logo inlay.
A detailed specification was provided, outlining material selection, geometry and finish requirements to ensure the completed feature integrated seamlessly with the overall architectural design.
CNC Stone Machining and Inlay
All stone production was carried out in-house using our CNC stone machining technology. The work involved precision-cutting black granite and inlaying it into a buff granite base to form the hotel’s distinctive “G” logo.
CNC machining allowed us to achieve:

Crisp edges and clean geometry
Consistency across all components

Quality Control and Pre-Installation Checks
Before dispatch, the granite slabs were fully laid out in our workshop for quality control. This process allowed us to verify alignment, surface finish and dimensional accuracy against the supplied specification.

A Durable Architectural Branding Feature
Granite was selected for its strength, longevity and resistance to wear, making it ideal for a hotel entrance with heavy footfall. The finished inlay provides a subtle yet impactful brand marker, embedded directly into the building fabric and designed to perform for decades.
