The Stardust Memorial Park is a place of remembrance created to honour the victims of the Stardust tragedy and to provide a dignified, peaceful space for reflection. Located in Coolock, the park has been carefully designed to serve both as a memorial and as a quiet public space for families, survivors and the wider community.

The park represents decades of advocacy, remembrance and resilience, and every element within it has been approached with sensitivity and care. We were deeply honoured to be asked to contribute to this important project.

Our Role in the Project

We were engaged by Dublin City Council to carry out the engraving of stone benches within the memorial park. These benches form part of the park’s contemplative spaces, offering visitors a place to pause, reflect and remember.

While our role was a small part of a much larger collaborative effort, it was a privilege to contribute craftsmanship to a site of such profound significance.

Dustless Sandblasted Engraving

The bench inscriptions were produced using dustless sandblasting, a controlled engraving method well suited to memorial environments and sensitive public spaces. This technique allows lettering to be engraved cleanly and consistently while minimising airborne dust and disruption on site.

Dustless sandblasting offers several key advantages for memorial stonework:

  • Clean, legible engraving with softened edges

  • Minimal environmental impact during production

  • Suitability for use in active or sensitive locations

  • Long-term durability and resistance to weathering

Each bench was engraved with care and precision, ensuring clarity, consistency and a finish appropriate to the solemn nature of the memorial.

Craftsmanship with Respect

Working on memorial projects requires more than technical skill — it demands respect for the stories and emotions tied to the place. Every stage of the engraving process was carried out with this in mind, from preparation through to final completion.

Although the work itself is understated, its importance lies in how it supports the overall atmosphere of the park: quiet, dignified and enduring. The engraved benches are intended not to draw attention to themselves, but to serve those who visit — offering a place to sit, reflect and remember.

An Honour to Contribute

Projects such as the Stardust Memorial Park remind us that stonework in the public realm can carry deep emotional meaning. Even small elements can play a role in shaping how a space is experienced and remembered.

We are grateful to Dublin City Council for the trust placed in us, and honoured to have contributed, in our own small way, to a memorial that will stand for generations to come.
